Talk: “Better conditions for Näsets batrachians” – Semiaquatic Life

Project SemiAquaticLife works to improve and rejuvenate habitats for frogs, toads and newts and aquatic insects in Natura 2000 areas throughout Scania (11 areas), Denmark (18 areas) and Northern Germany (9 areas). The measures taken create wetlands and improve dryland habitats for these species. This presentation will explain the project as a whole and then delve deeper into its work on the Falsterbo Peninsula where the focus is on improving habitats for Natterjack toads and the Northern Crested newt.

At Falsterbo firing range five pools for the Northern Crested newt and two for the Natterjack toad have been created. In addition, there are plans to create a small outdoor museum to spread information and increase knowledge about the species. At Flommen, two new pools have been created and two pools have been restored to encourage Natterjack toads.

Marika Stenberg and Per Nyström from Ekoll AB will tell us more about the project.
